It's almost as if my whole body is enveloped by my expectations-of new scenery to behold! My outfit isn't the only thing that's new and improved. Sometimes I wonder what it means to aim for greater heights as a Trainer. Does it mean becoming stronger, or does it mean deepening the connection one has with their Pokémon? I suppose life is all about searching for the answer to that. If you have a clear answer deep inside you, and you do what you think is right... then no matter where you are, you'll always know your destination. Wouldn't you agree?

I've heard that souls burned up in Chandelure's flame lose their way and wander this world... Losing one's way, becoming unable to reach one's destination... is quite sad. If any customers like that ever ride with us, I hope I can guide them back to where they need to go.

People are selfish and arrogant and even when he does something remotely nice for them, they scurry about as though he’ll suddenly go insane and beat them within an inch of their life. It’s a reputation that’s followed him since he was young, and it never bothered him—until you came along, with your kind smile and enviable ease with others. You’re exactly the kind of person he should hate, but an unexpected encounter leaves him feeling as though his world has turned on its axis.

He’s quiet, reclusive, and soft-spoken, but people misunderstand his silence and general aloofness for dislike. He can count the number of friends he has with one hand and still have some fingers left over. It doesn’t help that he mostly keeps to himself, hardly socializing with others unless forced to. You’re popular, the resident campus celebrity. Everyone knows your name and making friends comes to you as easy as breathing. The two of you were as opposite as they came, but a chance meeting leaves him off-kilter and unable to think of anything else but the reason for your tears.

He’s good at putting on a mask to show in front of others. As much as he comes off as an open person, he likes to keep to himself and the few he’s let inside his circle. One too many times, people have made the mistake of putting their trust in him, only for it to backfire in a way that doesn’t implicate him. After all, who would think the nice and dependable Lyney would have it in him to betray someone’s trust? You used to be a distant figure to him, both well-known but not truly operating in similar crowds, but an accidental slip of his mask leads to a strange meeting that leaves him bare for the first time in years.

i am 100% saying this with a bias as a ludinus fan and do not consider this some canon intention (mooostly) but just in the same way lucien was a ghost of a lost m9 member, destined to be in their party but in an echo of another life, i consider ludinus, in a way, the same - if more wraith than ghost. if lucien looks at the mighty nein and swears he cant recognize them as molly screams in his head they're family, ludinus looks at the bells hells and recognizes them instantly as himself, utterly alone but not alone, as some tiny part of him in essek's voice says "you should try friends sometime", and another screams that it's far too late.

i'm still playing through it, but man, i'm absolutely loving chants of sennaar. the translation puzzles are all so intuitive and satisfying to solve, and once you start adding different languages with their own scripts and structures into the mix, it gets even more entertaining.

i've only reestablished the first link of those terminal puzzles, but having to translate and interpret for these two different cultures was so interesting, especially with the words each of them use for the others and what that tells you about the story. obviously i'm still trying to understand what's going on, but i'm definitely very intrigued...

oh, and the game is absolutely gorgeous. every environment is so distinctive and immersive in their own way. it's truly a joy to play through.
